Smile School is a children’s book that supports early oral health education in an accessible, engaging, and culturally thoughtful way. This project reflects our core values by empowering others and creating tools with lasting impact.

We’re proud to share that this book was created by our board member, Julie Flynn, whose creativity and commitment brought this vision to life. Smile School is now in the hands of children in Kenya and our local communities.

From overcoming barriers to educating thousands of children, Christine’s journey embodies the power of resilience and community-led change.

When Nikki first traveled to Kenya in 2014, she had been practicing dental hygiene for just three years. A friend of hers mentioned an opportunity to provide preventative care in underserved communities, and with her adventurous spirit, she jumped at the chance. She flew across the world to work alongside a dentist she had never met, trusting that her desire to help would guide her.

The World Health Outreach logo is meaningful, both for what it represents and for the person who designed it. Created by a talented emerging designer, Amilia McGill, daughter of our founder, the logo reflects our mission, values, and goals.

In Malawi, oral health remains one of the most overlooked areas of healthcare. With over 21 million people and fewer than 60 dentists, access to dental care is limited for most. Recognizing this gap, Patrick Moses, a dental surgery student and passionate community advocate, has made it his mission to bring oral health education directly to the people who need it most.

This past May, on our Smile Journey Learning and Giving Adventure, we partnered with Days for Girls International and the Olmalaika Days for Girls Social Enterprise in Kenya to bring menstrual health education and sustainable kits to rural, underserved areas of Kenya. We reached over 1,000 students, providing essential health, hygiene, and reproductive education that equips them with knowledge, confidence, and dignity.

In May 2025, our Smile Journey Kenya program brought together a dedicated and diverse team for a memorable experience. We combined education, outreach, and cultural exchange, making this journey about giving, learning, connecting, and making a real impact.
