Transforming Oral Health in Malawi

A Student’s Mission for Change
In Malawi, oral health remains one of the most overlooked areas of healthcare. With over 21 million people and fewer than 60 dentists, access to dental care is limited for most. Recognizing this gap, Patrick Moses, a dental surgery student and passionate community advocate, has made it his mission to bring oral health education directly to the people who need it most.

Empowering Communities Through Education
Patrick has led oral health campaigns in schools and rural communities across Blantyre and neighboring regions—teaching families about proper hygiene, conducting surveys, and distributing toothbrushes. His sessions often reach hundreds of learners, emphasizing that prevention is more powerful than cure, especially in areas where treatment is out of reach.
“When people understand that small daily habits can prevent pain and disease, real change begins. ”
Strengthening Impact Through Visual Learning
To support Patrick’s outreach, World Health Outreach shipped a set of visual teaching aids to Malawi—including a giant teeth demonstration model with toothbrush, hand mirrors for awareness, small teeth models, and a dental caries model showing tooth anatomy. These hands-on tools have become an invaluable resource in his oral health sessions, helping community members visualize and better understand proper oral hygiene practices.
“They’re really helpful. They make my work easy and nice. People easily understand what I teach through demonstrations. Thank you so much for supporting my work”
Patrick’s work perfectly embodies World Health Outreach’s mission - empowering local leaders to deliver sustainable oral health education and build healthier futures through knowledge and prevention.
Together, we can continue transforming lives—one smile at a time.
